Orissa is a state with considerable natural resources and a high potential for growth. The vast mineral resource base in the state has attracted large industries. There is also a need to diversify the economic activity to raise income levels. While there has been progress on social development parameters, it is still a challenge for the state to effectively provide for all its people.
