M. Mathirajan

M. Mathirajan is Principal Research Scientist at the Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He received his M.Sc. degree in mathematics from Madurai Kamaraj University and postgraduate diploma in operations research from Anna University. He received another M.Sc. (engineering) degree in applied operations research and Ph.D. in operations management from IISc. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Singapore–Massachusetts Institute of Technology Alliance in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He was also a visiting consultant at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman. He was selected and nominated as young representative of the Operational Research Society of India to present a paper in the 1999 Fall Annual Conference of ORSJ, Tokyo, Japan. His Ph.D. thesis was adjudged the best thesis and was awarded the M. N. Gopalan Award of 2002 at the annual convention of ORSI. His research interests are in the areas of mathematical modelling and heuristic methods for production planning and scheduling, personnel scheduling, routing and scheduling in logistics, container terminal logistics, distribution in supply chain management and research methods. He has published over 25 research articles in both national and international journals also presented over 30 research papers both at national and international conferences. He is the co-author of two books and a monograph. He has guided a number of research students at the management studies department in IISc and has examined several theses from various institutes and universities.
