Om Prakash taught at the Delhi School of Economics between 1965 and 2005 before retiring as Professor of Economic History. He has also been a visiting professor at a number of European and American universities. He was elected a Foreign Member of the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences, Haarlem, in 1992 and a Foreign Fellow of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in2000. In April2005, he was awarded the Royal Decoration of Knight in the Order of the Netherlands Lion by Her Majesty, the Queen of the Netherlands.
